Learn About Islam

Islam is the world's second-largest religion — a complete way of life rooted in the worship of One God, the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, and the timeless guidance of the Qur'an.

"Say: He is Allah, the One. Allah — the Self-Sufficient, Eternal."

Surah Al-Ikhlas, 112:1–2

☝️

One God

Islam means "submission to God." At its heart is Tawhid — the belief that God (Allah in Arabic) is One, without partners, equals, or intermediaries. He is the Creator of everything, All-Knowing, All-Merciful.

📜

A Complete Way of Life

Islam is not merely a set of rituals — it is a complete, practical guide for how to live: how to treat others, how to govern a family, how to do business, how to find inner peace — all rooted in divine wisdom.

🌍

For All of Humanity

Islam is not an ethnic or cultural religion — it is a universal message sent to all of humankind, regardless of race, nationality, or background. Over 1.9 billion people across every corner of the world are Muslim.

🔗

The Final Revelation

Muslims believe Islam is the completion of the same message sent to all the prophets — Adam, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and finally Muhammad ﷺ. The Qur'an is the final, preserved word of God to humanity.

The Testimony of Faith — The Shahada
"There is no god worthy of worship except Allah, and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah."

This simple declaration — spoken with sincere belief — is all that is required to enter Islam. It encapsulates the entire faith in one sentence.

The Five Pillars of Islam

The Five Pillars are the essential acts of worship that every Muslim is called to perform. They form the backbone of a Muslim's daily life and spiritual practice.

١
Shahada — The Declaration of Faith

Sincerely declaring that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad ﷺ is His messenger. This is the entry point into Islam and the foundation of all belief.

٢
Salah — The Five Daily Prayers

Muslims pray five times a day — at dawn, midday, afternoon, sunset, and night — facing the Kaaba in Makkah. Prayer is a direct, intimate conversation with God, cleansing the heart and anchoring the day in remembrance of Him.

Fajr · Dhuhr · Asr · Maghrib · Isha
٣
Zakat — Purifying Charity

An annual charitable contribution of 2.5% of one's savings, given to those in need. Zakat purifies wealth, reduces inequality, and reminds Muslims that what they own is ultimately a trust from God — not theirs to hoard.

٤
Sawm — Fasting in Ramadan

Every year in the holy month of Ramadan, Muslims fast from dawn to sunset — abstaining from food, drink, and bad behavior. It is a month of intense worship, gratitude, and spiritual renewal, culminating in the celebration of Eid al-Fitr.

٥
Hajj — The Pilgrimage to Makkah

Once in a lifetime, every Muslim who is physically and financially able must make the pilgrimage to Makkah. Over 2 million people gather each year in one of humanity's most extraordinary acts of collective worship — a powerful reminder that all are equal before God.

The Six Articles of Faith

Every Muslim holds six core beliefs — collectively known as the Arkan al-Iman. These form the theological foundation of Islam.

01

Belief in Allah

God is One — unique, eternal, without beginning or end. He has no partners, no children, no equals. He is the Creator, Sustainer, and Master of all that exists. His 99 names describe His beautiful attributes: Al-Rahman (the Most Merciful), Al-Hakeem (the All-Wise), Al-Wadud (the Loving).

02

Belief in the Angels

Angels are created from light — they have no free will and exist only to serve God. Jibril (Gabriel) brought revelation to the prophets. Mikail oversees rain and sustenance. Two angels record every deed of every human being.

03

Belief in the Scriptures

God sent revealed books to guide humanity: the Torah to Moses, the Psalms to David, the Gospel to Jesus, and finally the Qur'an to Muhammad ﷺ. Muslims believe the Qur'an is the only scripture preserved in its original form.

04

Belief in the Prophets

God sent over 124,000 prophets throughout history — among them Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad ﷺ. All conveyed the same essential message: worship God alone. Muhammad ﷺ is the final prophet.

05

Belief in the Day of Judgment

Every soul will be resurrected and stand before God to be judged for every action, intention, and word. This day gives ultimate meaning to how we live — justice will be fully served, and nothing goes unaccounted.

06

Belief in Divine Decree

Allah has knowledge of all things — past, present, and future. Everything occurs by His permission. This belief instills deep trust in God and gives the Muslim heart peace in hardship: "No calamity befalls except by the permission of Allah." (Qur'an 64:11)

"And We have not sent you except as a mercy to all the worlds."

Surah Al-Anbiya, 21:107

Muhammad ﷺ

Born in Makkah, Arabia in 570 CE, Muhammad ﷺ (peace be upon him) was a man of extraordinary character — known even before prophethood as Al-Amin: the Trustworthy. At the age of 40, he received the first revelation of the Qur'an through the Angel Jibril.

For 23 years, he conveyed the message of Islam, faced intense persecution with patience, established a just society, and transformed the Arabian Peninsula. He left behind the Qur'an and his Sunnah (way of life) as a guide for all humanity until the end of time.

Non-Muslim historian Michael Hart ranked Muhammad ﷺ the most influential person in all of human history — recognizing his unparalleled impact on civilization, law, spirituality, and the lives of billions.

🤲
His Mercy

"The merciful are shown mercy by the Most Merciful. Be merciful to those on earth, and the One above the heavens will be merciful to you." — Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

⚖️
His Justice

He declared in his Farewell Sermon: "No Arab is superior over a non-Arab, nor is a non-Arab superior over an Arab… the most noble among you is the most God-conscious."

💛
His Character

His wife Aisha (ra) was asked about his character. She replied: "His character was the Qur'an." He was gentle, humble, generous, and kind — even to his enemies.

The Holy Qur'an

The Qur'an is the verbatim word of Allah, revealed to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ over 23 years. It is the most memorized and recited book in human history — unchanged since its revelation over 1,400 years ago.

Common Questions About Islam

These are some of the most frequently asked questions about Islam — answered with clarity, evidence, and sincerity.

No. Muslims worship Allah alone — the One God. Muhammad ﷺ is deeply loved and revered as the final prophet and messenger, but he was a human being and is not worshipped in any way. When the Prophet passed away, the Caliph Abu Bakr said: "Whoever worshipped Muhammad, let him know that Muhammad has died. Whoever worships Allah, let him know that Allah lives and never dies."

"Allah" is simply the Arabic word for God — the same word used by Arab Christians and Arabic-speaking Jews. Muslims, Christians, and Jews all trace their faith back to Abraham and share belief in the God of Abraham. Muslims believe in the same God — but differ on matters of theology, such as the nature of Jesus and the authenticity of scriptures.

Islamic teachings grant women comprehensive rights and dignity. The Prophet ﷺ said: "The best of you are those who are best to their wives." Islam granted women the right to own property, inherit, seek divorce, and conduct business — rights that women in much of the world did not receive until centuries later. Cultural practices in some Muslim-majority countries that oppress women are not Islamic but rather reflect cultural norms that contradict Islamic teachings.

No. The word "Islam" shares its root with the Arabic word for peace — salam. The Qur'an explicitly states: "Whoever kills one soul, it is as if he killed all of mankind." (5:32). Islam strictly prohibits the killing of civilians, the destruction of places of worship, and aggression against innocents. The actions of extremist groups are condemned by mainstream Islamic scholarship worldwide and are a distortion of the faith.

Muslims love and revere Jesus (known as Isa in Arabic) as one of the greatest prophets and messengers of God. The Qur'an mentions Jesus more times than Muhammad ﷺ. Muslims believe in his miraculous virgin birth, his miracles, and that he will return before the Day of Judgment. Muslims differ from Christians in that they do not believe Jesus is divine or the son of God — but they hold him in the highest honor as a prophet.

Becoming Muslim requires only one thing: sincerely declaring the Shahada — "I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah." No ceremony, no intermediary, no fee. Just a sincere heart. If you have questions or want to take this step, we'd be honored to support you — reach out to us anytime at [email protected].
